Stitching Update - Week 4

All of my efforts went toward LHN "Through the Woods". If I hadn't run out of one of the colors I'd be done. As it is, I think I'll finish it this week for sure. As I've been stitching on this one Sunny asked me who it was for. I told her I didn't know, but I thought I'd put it in Gramps' office. She declared "Gramps doesn't need another stitching, you just made him a Christmas Tree". Before I could reply she headed into the office and asked Dan, "Gramps, you don't need another stitching in here do you?" Hahaha

Sunny was over everyday last week recovering from pneumonia. After her nap one day this is what I found at the foot of my bed.

I saw this idea on Pinterest and just had to have one. I bought a Scrabble game for $2 at an Estate Sale and after quite a few tries, got our names to fit just right. The game was missing some tiles so it was a challenge! What do you think: should I leave it as is, or put a photo of our family on it?

Grandkids

The grandkids were over on Friday for a couple of hours so Katie and Gabe could go to dinner alone. They are both feeling better, but Sunny still seems to have a lingering illness. Thunder is back to normal. Thunder came over to play yesterday for a few hours. He is so much fun. He's talking quite a bit. He loves to play here without sister so he can play with all of the toys she guards from him while she's here!

One day I noticed that Summer was laying in Duke's cage.
She's never done this before!

Sunday - Duke patiently waits for a dropped Pirate's Booty

Eating again - pretzels with Gramps

His method for getting the magnets off the fridge involves slapping them off!

Stitching Update - Week 3

All 15 starts for this year's Crazy January Challenge are underway. I hope I manage to complete them all this year. I'm going to give it my best shot!

I've mentioned in the past that my DD and DIL and I have an afghan project we're working on. We each chose a theme for an afghan and we stitch three squares and then pass it on to the next person. I have stitched on Jessica's and Janel's and will be stitching on my own this next round. I've included photos of the squares I did for Janel and a photo of her afghan to this point.

I also completed another CJC project, but haven't decided how to finish it.

Janel's theme is "The Twelve Days of Christmas"

Time for another memory verse... already! I chose this verse because I really want to apply it to my everyday life. Whether you're a SAHM, a working mother, retired, a student, all of the above, you have "works". This verse reminds me that I need to commit everything I do to the Lord.

Proverbs 16:3 NET
Commit your works to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.

Stitching Update - Week 2

This week I continued working on the 2013 Crazy January Challenge. I managed to complete a couple of projects, but haven't decided how to finish them yet. My starts are small, but I figure any time I put needle and thread into fabric counts!

First I'm sharing a photo of Rascal sitting in Dan's chair. This is definitely a no-no and he knows it!

Also, please check out the free patterns I'm giving away by clicking the tab at the top of the page. Thanks!

I don't know why you can't tell the difference between it and the Easter piece. Please excuse the wrinkles again!

Time Well Spent

Bible Study, A Woman's Heart: God's Dwelling Place

Last October I was whining to my friend Becky over lunch that few of the churches in our area offer Women's Bible Study any more. Some really large churches have even stopped offering a Women's Ministry Program. I told her I really wanted to find a good Beth Moore study to do.

She excitedly responded that the same thing had been on her heart and that she had even gone so far as to buy a workbook for "A Woman's Heart" on clearance at her church bookstore. Really?! I've always wanted to do that study! A plan was born.

Armed with our workbooks we met this past Wednesday for Week One of our study. It's just the two of us. We don't have the videos. But we do have a desire for this study which will help us remodel our hearts into God's Dwelling Place - His Tabernacle.

I'm so thankful (for once) that I was whining and that my whine led to an opportunity to study God's Word with a friend!

Feeling Sick...

There are several people in my family who are ill. I imagine there are people in your family who are ill too. It seems like there's a couple of bad viruses plus the flu making the rounds. I shared yesterday that Sunny has pneumonia, well Thunder has it too. Poor little things. Please pray for them to recover swiftly, and for Katie who is now the only healthy person in her little family! Thanks...

Wrapping Up 2012

Before I begin this post I'd like to ask for prayer for my granddaughter Sunny. She was diagnosed with pneumonia yesterday. Poor little thing... she looks absolutely miserable. I know she's sick because all she does is lay on the couch or in bed. Hopefully Thunder won't get it too. Thank you for your prayers!

The last week of 2012 was a flurry of activity and I didn't post some final photos, so here they are:

Summer enjoying a nap in Dan's chair

Marti, Kyler, and me
Kyler is our surrogate grandson. He turned 14 this year. His birthday is a few days before Christmas so I delivered his birthday and Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve. I can't believe he's 14!!

Sunny rockin' out at Abuela's house on Christmas Eve

Thunder is on the left and his newest (and only boy) cousin Bryce is on the right

I need some new wreaths and Jessica came over the day after Christmas and made this wreath for me. Isn't it beautiful?! I'm hoping she can make a couple more next year.

The kids stayed with us a few days/nights while Katie and Gabe went to California to celebrate Gabe's 30th birthday. Of course Buster came to spend the time too. As you can see, everyone likes to sit on Gramps' lap!

Stitching Update - Week 1

My goal is to update my stitching efforts every Saturday. We'll see how long I stick with it. But even if I don't stick with the updates you can rest assured I'll be stitching!

I have several patterns available for free. You can find them on the tab at the top of the blog. Please contact me if you'd like any of these and I will get them in the mail to you - FREE!

This week I started five of the 2013 Crazy January Challenge pieces. I managed to finish two of them. This year I tried a new approach and chose several small patterns so I'd feel as if I was actually accomplishing something!

It's a new year! A new beginning in so many ways. One of my new beginnings is an attempt to memorize 24 verses of the Bible this year. I'm joining with Beth Moore's Scripture Memory Team - SSMT. My first verse for the year is:

For God alone I patiently wait;
he is the one who delivers me.
Psalm 62:1 NET

I'd better get to memorizing!

Happy New Year!
