SSMT #2

For we have all received from his fullness one gracious gift after another. John 1:16 NET

Isn't this a great reminder? It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day of life. To focus on what we don't have. Or what isn't going the way we want it to. Or physical maladies. Or restlessness. Or tiredness. Or boredom, discontent, unhappiness. On fear. I am going to claim this verse as my own. I have received one gracious gift after another. It's time to refocus!

I just love this! John 1:16 8x10 print. via Etsy. #hellomornings

Seven Months

Wow, I really wish I had chosen the word "time" for my 2015 One Word... oh wait, I did chose the word time. I just do not know where the time goes. Each hour flies by in a flash, every day is a blur, and the weeks are a blink of an eye.

Storm is seven months old! He is sitting and just a second away from crawling. He army crawls all over the house and has just figured out that he can follow Rascal around in that fashion. Of course, Rascal is too fast for him which is frustrating. But frustration is soon forgotten as Rascal whirls by him again, and Storm takes off after him!

Now Why Didn't I Think of That?

I have started my morning devotions this year with the Chronological Life Application Bible. I'm enjoying it, especially all of the extra information that's provided on each page. Jessica and I were talking about devotionals the other day and she gave me a great tip. I have always highlighted verses in my Bible, but she takes it a step farther and writes the date next to the highlighted verses. Now why didn't I think of that? All these years and it never occurred to me. I'm starting now...

What a great way to look back and be reminded of why/how God spoke to you through His Word. She also writes notes in her Bible. I used to do that when I was young, but have gotten away from that practice. Maybe it's time to bring it back.

2015 SSMT #1

Happy New Year! Today I'm starting to memorize Bible Verses along with thousands of others through the Siesta Scripture Memory Team on Beth Moore's blog. Beth hosts this event every other year. The goal is to memorize a verse of scripture on the 1st and 15th of each month. At the end of the year I will have, hopefully, memorized 24 verses. This is my third year to participate and I'm very excited!

The verse I've chosen for today actually came from a blog post on the Mennonite Girls Can Cook blog. You can find the post written by Judy here. What a great verse to start the new year with!

Psalm 37:4 ESV
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

The desire of my heart for 2015 is to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. To make good use of my time. To be loving. To share my faith with whomever God puts in my path.

Happy New Year!
