The Wedding

Kathleen Renee Koons became Kathleen Renee Vasquez when she married Gabriel Vasquez on March 24, 1012. The wedding was beautiful. Of course we don't have the professional photos yet, but I'll share some of the photos we shot.

Week 12 - Stitching Update

Finally, some photos! I got a new camera, as well as a new computer. This is something I would not recommend. I barely know how to use the camera. I'm slowly learning the computer. My main issue is with uploading the photos. I don't like where the computer puts them, but haven't figured out yet how to exercise my control over it!

This week my DIL Janel was in town. We drove over to Scottsdale to "Old Town Needlework" and down to Mesa to "Attic Needlework". We purchased items at both stores.

I also managed a finish this week (don't ask me how with all of the wedding prep going on!). I finished Minnie Mouse, but can't show you a picture this week, I'll show her next week.

Rehearsal

Yesterday we held the rehearsal for the wedding. Sunny is so overwhelmed with excitement that she can hardly be contained. Normally that is a cute thing. But for a wedding... On the third try she did a great job of taking the petals from her little basket and dropping them on the ground. Of course, she was also saying out loud "grab and drop... grab and drop". Very cute!

After the rehearsal we adjourned to Katie and Gabe's for pizza and wings... and basketball (for some of them).

Enjoy the pictures!

500 Posts (and other stuff)

So, I guess I sailed right by my 500th post. I was planning to host a giveaway for it. However, I'm just too distracted with wedding, and out-of-town guests, and appraisals, and grandkids so I'll have to wait. Maybe for my 525th post!

Yesterday, Tia Janel and Sunny stitched with sewing cards. Janel is infinitely more patient with her than I am. Sunny really concentrated on Janel's instructions and stitched a card mostly by herself. She was so proud! I'm on the lookout for a really good first cross-stitch kit for her. She really wants to stitch and doesn't want to wait until she's five (the arbitrary age we assigned).

Today is girl's breakfast out, wedding rehearsal, and rehearsal dinner. Tomorrow is the big day!

TUSAL (totally useless stitch-a-long)

Here's my ORT (old ratty thread) jar for March. Most of it came from Minnie Mouse. I had two pages stitched on her when I realized I made a mistake and I ripped out most of those two pages before giving up and starting anew on a fresh piece of fabric. If you would like to be a part of TUSAL, go to http://itsdaffycat.blogspot.com/2011/11/totally-useless-stitch-long.html. You can join at any time and it's fun!

Wedding Madness, Family Fun, Stitching Stash

Oh my goodness. I feel as if I'm in a frenzy, but that is not necessarily a bad thing!

The wedding is on Saturday and we are in the midst of the last minute details. Katie is going to be such a beautiful bride. I'm excited for the day to arrive!

JD and Janel arrived Monday night. It is so much fun to have them here. I miss them terribly when they're gone. I am savoring every moment with them.

On Tuesday, they met Thunder when he and Sunny came over for Grammy Daycare. Sunny was bouncing off the wall all day with excitement at having a new Tio and Tia to play with. On Tuesday night, we had a family dinner with Jessica, Adam, my mom and dad. More excitement!

Yesterday, we drove over to Scottsdale so Janel and I could visit a cross-stitch shop, then we headed down to Mesa so they could meet Skye. By the time we got home last night, I was worn out!

Here's the photos... Tuesday first and then Wednesday.

Week 11 - Stitching Update

No photos today. I haven't figured out how to upload photos the way I want to with the new computer. I am a little frustrated, but having a speedy, new computer outweighs the frustration!

This week I stitching exclusively on "Minnie Mouse" for Sunny. I will have her finished tonight or tomorrow. Then I can spend some time learning how to upload photos correctly.

Today has been cold and rainy here. I love it!

A New Computer

We've known our computer was dying for several weeks now. On Thursday we finally had to do something about it. We bought a new computer and Dan spent all day yesterday working on transferring data from the old to the new.

I was shocked when I saw my blog(s) on the new one. Wow, they look way better than I realized! On my old computer I could only see about 1/2 inch of the background on either side of my post. I was always disappointed that the backgrounds didn't show up. Now I can see several inches of background. As soon as I have time I'm going to play around with my template again.

Most everything has transferred successfully. We still can't figure out how to transfer the email, contact, task, calendar files from Outlook.

This one is way faster. The only other complaint we have is that the font is so small in some applications we can barely read it. Oh well, we'll figure it out...

"Grampsy"

So yesterday afternoon, out of the blue, Sunny changed Gramps' name to "Grampsy". I think it was cute at first, but I'm pretty sure Dan is tired of it now. She has continued to call him that today. She follows him around saying "your name is Grampsy, right?!" "Hey Grampsy, Grampsy, your name is Grampsy, right?!"

Poor man...

Week 10 - Stitching Update and some other stuff

No stitching photos this week. I started a new project, a free Minnie Mouse pattern I found online. It's six pages long, which is misleading because it's actually a very small piece. I had two pages completed when I realized I had a mistake. I started ripping out. Then I ripped out some more. I ripped out one entire page worthy of stitches and began again. I still had an error. Rather than rip out the whole thing, I started over on a fresh piece of fabric. So far so good, but no picture.

In other news, we went over to start preparing the wedding location today. We strung lights and finalized where the tables, food, beverages, cake, etc. will go. Then we went down for the final fitting of the wedding gown. Katie wanted Sunny to go along to see her in the dress (when we bought the dress in 2011, Sunny would exclaim "no like, Mommy, no like!" every time she saw Katie in it). This time she was enthralled with how beautiful Mommy looked and so was Thunder...
